5 of Cups - Tarot & Tea

Happy Tuesday, friends and welcome back to Tarot & Tea!  Today’s card comes to us from the whimsical Tarot of a Moon Garden by Laura E Clarson.  This deck takes us to a magical world of fairies, unicorns, wizards, and all manner of fanciful plants, trees and mushrooms. The Moon, ever the changeling, comes to us in many guises through the cards to share her wisdom.  There is an innocence to this deck but it still retains the beautiful mystery of the divinatory tool that it is. Tarot of a Moon Garden has its structural base in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck but the imagery can make it a bit easier to work with for younger folks or those simply enjoy the mythical!

Our card today is the 5 of Cups. Image-wise we see a set of 5 cups in the garden, 3 having been knocked over.  There is a castle in the air as well as a hot-air balloon in the night sky.  What is your first notice when you look at this card?  Is it the castle?  The overturned cups?  The hot air balloon?  5 of cups often speaks of regret, consequences, and disappointment but where do we go from there?  Do we allow ourselves to focus on what has passed or been lost to us (the overturned cups) or do we turn our gaze to what we are blessed with in the now (the standing cups) and what is possible for us in the future?  This card is associated with Mars in Scorpio …. deep emotions in conflict, but there is hope and forward progress is very much possible.

I really like what Brigit of Biddy Tarot take on this card.  She says that forgiveness is vital with 5 of cups.  Have you made a mistake or wronged someone?  Do your best to make it right but remember, if you can, to forgive yourself somewhere in that process, too.  Do you feel you’ve been wronged or had a situation blow up around you?  Pick up the pieces you need to move forward and leave the rest.  If you can find forgiveness in your heart, give it.  It is more for you and your growth than the other person.  It will allow you to let go of those festering emotions to make better moves to get you to the place you want to be.  I know this doesn’t work for every person and every situation but it is something to think about if this card speaks to you.

Two teas called out today: Lazy Daze and our Fly Me High.  Lazy Daze seems like an odd choice at first but the combo of Spearmint, Lemongrass, Elderberry, Rose, Linden, Chamomile, Raspberry and Orange peel can really help nourish the heart & spirit so we can release the negative that no longer serves us with a gentle heart.  Fly Me High is another nourishing blend of Oatstraw, Lemon Balm, Lemongrass, Nettle, Borage, Fo-ti, Orange Peel, Ginger & Lavender.  I feel Fly Me High would be wonderful for those whose frazzled nerves & wounded heart need just a bit more courage & fire to push themselves forward.  Both are truly excellent blends so feel free to try them both and see what works for you!
